The Helix Lamp
I decided to try bending wood to the extreme to satisfy my imagination. Using a bent lamination technique, I cut 1mm thick strips of oak, glued them together and twisted them around a wooden mold I had previously built. Then, I made the lampshade using sugar maple veneer, bending it into a circle again.
This lamp was my entry in the Rockler Try That Challenge, which challenged creators to try something new and post it on social media. I filmed every step of the process and posted weekly videos on Instagram, as my official entry in the contest.
After months of waiting for the judges, two well-known furniture designers and creators gave me an honorable mention! So I am extremely proud of this project.
